Is Your Tile Flooring And Grout Looking Old? Fix It Up With These Tips

Do you love your tile floors, but hate how dirty your grout looks? Have a couple of stains ruined the floor, making the tile and grout look old and unsanitary? If so, there are some things you can do to help improve the look of your tile floors and to make them easier to maintain. Here are a few of the things you want to consider to keep your flooring look great.

Get the Floors Professionally Cleaned

Cleaning professionals have machines with soft pads that cleanse without scratching and that buff tiles so they look new. The professional cleaners can get dirt and debris that is stuck in the grout out, and they can also remove the grout stains that make the floors look dirty all the time. If you clean on a regular basis but it doesn't seem to change the look of your tile, this may be your best option.

Stain the Grout

If you used light grout stain when you first had the tile flooring installed, but now you wish you had dark stain in between your tiles, get a dark grout stain to apply to the floor. Right after the floors have been professionally cleaned is a great time to apply the stain, and you can get the stain at most home improvement stores. The darker stain will conceal older stains that you can't get out, and hide future stains.

Get a Moist Sweeper

People don't clean their tile as often as they should because they don't want to go through the hassle of getting out their mop, broom, bucket of water and cleaning solution, and rags. If you are one of these people, get a moist sweeper that you can push over a kitchen or another surface in minutes that both picks up debris and cleans the tile. Some of the sweepers have disposable cloths so it's easy to clean and toss the debris away.

If you have a lot of grout throughout the tile that is damaged, you'll want to have it repaired so it doesn't compromise the durability of the tile. You don't want any water or other liquids getting under the tiles in the home, and the damaged grout can leave edges of your tile exposed to chips or cracks, and then you'll need repairs. If your tile and the grout is looking old and dingy and you want to restore it, get a little bit of help and put some efforts into fixing the tile up right away before the problem gets worse.
